Rapper Alex Ovechkin

In a video that was noticed by the social networking sports world, Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin attempts to turn his swag up with a verse and an appearance in the latest Sanya Belyi video for “Champion”.

Ovechkin can be seen in the video doing rap hands throughout the video while wearing his hat tilted to the side. At the 2:55 mark of the YouTube, Ovechkin delivers a verse in Russian where he raps:

Alumni of Dynamo
Eight on the back.
In the All-Star game all attention is on me.
On the NatTeam since 17
Scored 100 points in a season
Gold Medal in Canada in ‘08
Among the 10 best players of the decade,
Stick in my hands, rap in my headphones,
Saying hello from Washington
Together with Sanya Belyi
For every champion

Ovechkin isn’t the only athlete to have rapped about being a ‘champion’. Los Angeles Lakers forward and social networking sports star Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, released a track entitled “Champions” in 2010 following the Lakers’ run.

Ovechkin has yet to win a Stanley Cup.
