On New Year’s Eve/morning news emerged from the social networking sports world that LeBron James had finally gotten a ring – for his high school sweetheart Savannah Brinson.
Fans and friends took to social media to congratulate the newly engaged couple.
“Congrats to Lebron. @KingJames and Savannah so happy 4 u guys,” tweeted Micky Arison, Miami Heat owner.
“Happy for my brother @KingJames and sis @SavannahRB on their engagement!!! Extremely happy for them and the good times to come #HappyNewYear,” tweeted Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers.
It was a big weekend for James as on Friday he celebrated his 27th birthday by scoring 34 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists in the Heat’s 103-101 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Brinson is 25 years old and has been dating James since she was 16 years old. She said in a 2010 interview with Harper’s BAZAAR that the couple were soul mates and the key to their relationship was communication and their ability to keep it real with each other.
“I’ve definitely not put a fire under his ass,” she said to Harper’s BAZAAR about getting married. “I would never rush him to do something like that. We’re really comfortable with the way things are now. And it’s not up to me. When it happens, it happens.”
James and Brinson have two children together, Lebron James Jr. and Bryce Maximus James.
