Jennifer Hudson on Grammy Tribute: ‘Greatest Honor of my Life’

With little advance notice, singer Jennifer Hudson sang the Dolly Parton song made famous by Whitney Houston in the Bodyguard, ‘I Will Always Love You’, at the 54th annual Grammy Awards.

“It was the greatest honor of my life to pay tribute to Whitney’s memory. It was from my heart. Her family is in my prayers,” Hudson tweeted on Monday evening.

Hudson is a big fan of the late singer and told “Nightline” in 2008 that she had fantasized about singing a duet with Houston.

“When she came out with ‘I Will Always Love You,’ I would create a duet between her and I … If you would hear her recording of singing it and you hear my voice singing the top harmony part and it’s like ‘ahhh’ to me. That’s Jennifer Hudson and White Houston’s duet, around the house that is,” Hudson said at the time.

There aren’t many singers that can do that song justice the way Houston did, but Hudson does. Her rendition was from the heart and filled with soul.
