Philadelphia Flyers’ Scott Hartnell was the toast of social media after he taunted a Pittsburgh fan during the Flyers’ 6-4 victory over the Pens on Sunday with a classic hype move made famous by the former wrestler Hulk Hogan.
“To quote the Hulkster himself “Watcha gonna do when the Hulkster runs wild on YOU,” Hartnell tweeted following the game. “Almost had to give someone Hulksters classic finishing move #Thelegdrop hahahahaahahah. Just kidding.”
Jokingly referred to as ‘Hulk Hogan’s younger brother’ by the television announcers, the Hogan look-alike is actually longtime Pens’ fan Cy Clark. This isn’t the first time that Clark has attracted the attention of a Flyer’s player. Last year Mike Richards took to social media to single out Clark following a game. Richards tweeted:
Does anyone else find it creepy that a 45 yr old man dress like hulk hogan has time to make that many signs…..just saying
Despite what the Flyers think about Clark, he is a beloved figure in social media and among Pens fans. Social media star Paul Bissonnette referred to the incident as ‘the best thing to happen to hockey even if it isn’t really Hulk Hogan’. The Brog.com wrote about Clark last year:
Cy Clark is our “Rocky”, ever since I can remember “Pens Hulk Hogan” was a staple at the Civic/Mellon Arena and now on to Consol.
Don’t mess with the Hulkster!
